Mass reduction at its worst (Contd...)
Dec 8,
My mass reduction initiative is in full swing. As a result of all that exercises i have gained a few kilos and a couple of inches sideways. It so happened that while back in bangalore i worked hard with my cycle. But then after each round of exercises i couldnt resist the call of my mess. To make matters worse i invariably end up taking some rest which usually extends up to a few days.
Anyways i have told myself in very clear terms that enough is enough and i better get back in shape. So as soon as i reach back bangalore i would be getting back to my exercising ways. Will keep you guys updated about any progress i make :)
For all those who dont know by now i have landed up a job with my summer company. For the next few years i would definitely have to work in the corporate sector and repay my loan and all. But i am seriously asking myself whether continuing in the typical corp job would be the right thing to do.
While dabbling with things here and there and after meeting a few guys i suddenly have felt this urge to do something really different. I want to do some photography and perhaps get into documentary film making. Will keep you guys updated if something really turns up.
I wrote the last few para a few hours ago. And now its the early hours of the day. Jus some time ago i went in for a post mid nite jog with an intention that i have already described :)) Hope to keep up with the good work :)
Last term i had taken up a subject called Political Economy. The guy who took up the course was called Rajeev Gowda. You may hear more about him in the papers as this guy actually is a potential congress candidate from the South Bangalore Lok Sabha seat. However thats not why i am writing about him. Despite the promise and the high expectations i had from the subject it was a big bore. All i did in his class was snore like a pig. Though there were some interesting incidents (in fact one). Once he invited a young MLA to the class who spent 45 minutes to say that he is not responsible for what happens in the system. He spent some time to describe the fact that he is an amazing thing and in fact came pretty close to being God's gift to Indian Politics. As a parting comment he said that if things are to change then the all the people apart from himself have to do something.
Unfortunately for the young MLA the other invitee to that class of Rajeev Gowda was Trilo. Soon after the MLA's exit from the stage he said, "If you cant do anything then what are you doing in here as an MLA. You should go home and sit there". Then he continued with a tirade against the politicians.
His performance could have put our angry young man Mr Bacchan to shame. In half an hour he used passion, facts and opinions to bring life to an otherwise boring Gowda session. He had some interesting anecdotes and spared none and those who faced his wrath included our nice sardarji PM. Btw Trilo is another professor at the institution. He more of a social activist than a professor and in case any one of you have any politician as a friend then ask him to please avoid this gentleman :))
My take home from that lecture is quite interesting. I don't consider Mr Gowda or the MLA or our PM as bad individuals. Its just that a politician tries to please everyone. In the process he ends up making so many compromises that he loses his credibility.
Coming back to Mr Gowda I think his was the preferred class for anyone who lacked some sleep. Now I don't mean to say that our Gowda is bore. In fact he is quite an interesting guy. He was a prof at some Ivy league college. And he won or was the runner up at BBC mastermind competition. But the fact is that during the class he was just plain boring and there was no coherence to his discussions.
And all I did for the entire term was absolutely nothing. But the wily politician had his own way of getting back at poor me. He has given us a take home end term. And I guess I have read more for this take home assignment cum end term than I ever did during the entire course. So all those who are in delhi now know why I havnt been able to meet you all ;)
Then the next funny thing concerns my dear old parents. Some two years back my mother had come to me with a marriage proposal :)) and my reply made her avoid the topic for almost two years. A couple of months ago she went to kerala and with my aunt's help she again bought up the topic. But so learned am I in the tricks of her trade that she actually gave up in her attempts to get me married :))
I had considered the matter closed but unfortunately for poor me my father got this brilliant idea of getting me married. So a couple of days back he came to me and said. Son I have something to tell you. I wont force anything on you but there is something I want to tell you. You are free to marry anyone but YOU SHOULD ONLY MARRY A MALAYALI GIRL. :)) I have done a royal act of ignoring the topic and I guess he wont raise the issue again. But in process he had me thinking.
