Anthills of Bangalore

Hi Guys,
July 21,

Its been sometime since i got rid of all excuses for not writing. But then there was the typical me holding me back.

To start off the best thing about bangalore is its weather. Its simply so different from the places that i have been to. I am told that the IIMB campus is amongst the very few campuses that don’t boast of air-conditioned facilities. And let me add that the guys out here have good reasons not to do so.

The campus is rather compact much smaller than say IITD but much larger than any of the delhi b-schools. There is still a lot of construction going on and the place has very thick green cover. Even the unplastered walls have thick creepers growing on them. In one sentence is the campus is simple and yet magnificent.

If you go into the woods you would find a few creatures here and there. In fact I once found a tiny snake. Then you would some giant anthills. If you come to the campus you would just find it difficult to miss them. The bangalore rains have smoothened the rough edges so the ant hills that you see here are rather different from the ones you see anywhere else.

Then another thing that caught my attention is the water tank. It has two levels and the upper level where the water is stored is out of bounds for most. Someone I know in this group told me some nice things and ever since I have been trying to get to the top level. The administration has not actually been helpful but will let you guys know when I reach the top.

The mess is an interesting place. In the morning just before the class there is always the rush. You can see many including yours truly stuffing things into their mouths. The most interesting thing about the place is the steel utensils. Kinda reminds of home. The food is decent but often you have to eat things that is absolutely bland. Some of the dishes esp the non veg is an insult to the south Indian taste buds.

Things are quite efficient. In fact you would see the same guys working whether its 7 in the morning or 2 in the night. Always ready with something or the other. Its simply amazing to see people working like that and yet if you don’t look carefully then chances are that you may miss them.

Then the profs out here are a big disappointment. Its my opinion that at any point of time if I suffer from any insomnia that I just have to attend a few of our stats classes. The guy whom we so fondly call Mr Trilo is so damn effective that it wont take more than five minutes for the effects to show up. Then there is Mr Rambo. The seniors had scared the shit out of most of us about him. Had given some scary sleepless nights to the poor souls. In fact they still tremble at the very mention of his name. I share somewhat similar sentiments about the character.
Then some of the guys out here are simply great. A few of them I knew from delhi itself. As some would remember there is mr Aalap Sharma who is actually in contention for the aditya birla scholarship. In fact some of my closest friends our here are contenders for that scholarship. Then there is Mr Aliasghar Bawa, Sumit, Gaurav and a few seniors like Das, mohley, Maroo and KK. Wont bore you with the details but somewhere down the lane I will speak more about these characters for I so very sure that these guys will come up with some thing worth mentioning.

Then there has been some problem with my yahoo messenger. I have not been logged on but some how it shows me online. So some of you who faced an unresponsive me can blame it on the network :)

Then coming to messenger I had been chatting with our dear old anit and we made every attempt to outflirt each other. While doing so there was this interesting thread of thoughts that came up in my mind. Its that I have changed so much in the last couple of years. Would be difficult to define it but in a nutshell I guess I have started to value relations more than ever before. Perhaps there are two people who are worth some mention: Kshitija and Shilpi. These two have changed me in ways that even they are not aware of.

Then part of the reason that I write this mail is because of those things that came up in my mind. Just wanted to tell you all that you are important and I value you all. And I find time to write you at 11 in the night when tomorrow I have an extremely important quiz and a marketing project that needs to be submitted.
So guys I apologize for not being punctual. Will make amends and let me say that I wont mind a few apologies from your side:)
Take care,
Shijo
