Shoili Aunty's marriage

Then its not Sudi alone who is doing something really out of the way. Some who comes quite close is Shilpi. She intends to do a PG program in Museuology. It took me some time to get the spellings and the pronunciation right.
She's already done a couple of PGs and intends to add a few more to her resume. Apart degree collection she proof-reads huge manuscripts and kinda manages a publishing house. After doing all that she goes on and does some broadcasting work with AIR and she is part of a few theater groups.

There are other things that she does but the reason for her inclusion today is that she is a big prankster. Something like the devil behind the face of a saint. Among her recent pranks was getting Shoili married without the bride getting to know about it. There was another character who completes the conspiracy. And that's Rahul. This fellow is a natural entomologist who like shilpi collects degrees as a hobby. For starters he did his pg in management and then soon after enrolled for two more pg courses. Along with all that he sells cars. And when he gets time he tries to make a fool of everyone around.

Now that I know this chap for almost six years I started feeling that he was couldn't play a trick on me. And that's exactly when he proved me wrong. Realising that we had kinda smartened up to his pranks he used the services of Shipi aunty and got shoili married.

Probably some of you would say that I am getting rather personal in a mail that shouldn't have anything personal in it. Well the justification of the two conspirators is that we are rather getting too serious with our jobs and once in a while we should make fools of the people around.

Well that's what we did on the 28th of last month. Late in the evening many of my college mates met up and the conspiracy was unearthed. Further we got nostalgic about old times and had a nice time. Five in the group will or have already left delhi and the others are busy building their careers. Perhaps it will be sometime before we meet up again like this.

But we were not worried that we were moving off but happy that we met again. We were happy to know that there are people who care about us and who would be there when we need them.

The Incredible Padma Aunty!!

The day before yesterday I spend more than 2 hours, totally mesmerized by the memorial service of Padma Vikraman Nayar , organized by the Singapore Malayali Association (SMA) . I have met her only once, a few years ago, but the eulogies removed any sense of unfamiliarity about her. Padma Aunty as she was popularly called was more of a background person and the extent of eulogies was disproportionate to any of the formal positions, she held within the SMA committee. And most surprisingly, all but one of the speakers on stage were males, mostly past SMA Presidents, a reflection of the authority she commanded during her life. At a personal level, I really struggle with the Malayalam Language and often felt that I was more of a Delhite than a Malayali. Senti side of me

Hi Guys, In the last few months I had a chat with some of you guys. And all of a sudden I realised that I dont have anything to talk about. Rahul and Shilpi called up most in this period and often I just did not know what to say and the forced conversation lasted for not more than a few minutes. Then the mails from regulars like Rahul(Both), Anit and Rohit have actually dried up. It used to be such a pleasure getting a mail from these guys. But somehow today all I see in my inbox is a few fwds and mailers which I very happily block. Now let me admit that Bhanu, Anit and Shuchi have been nice enough to send some thought provoking fwds. But I would be more pleased to get hold of a mail addressed to me. So i thought of asking some of you about how it felt getting my mails.
