Euphoria before the IIMs
Apr 27,
Yesterday I attended a party organized by the IIM guys and they went on about the fun it is to be on campus. You have parties at least twice a month and between the parties you slog. The work load they say is much less out in bangalore so at most you have to spend about 50 hrs without sleep. Somehow i felt cheered when they poured gyan on me that this was at least 30 percent less than what they do at the other IIMs.
Before the party it was egroups. We were added to the group and within a span of a few days my mailbox was full. I mean i got roughly four hundred mails in a span of about seven days. Reading the mails was enough to give creeps to the lesser mortals like me. The discussions ranged from Ayn Ryan, Deepak Chopra to computers and loans. There is also one chap who makes documentaries as a hobby.
When you read such things you sometimes have this feeling about how you will perform against these Goliaths. For sometime I guess I was rather conscious about these things. But I guess I am over it now and feeling rather upbeat about the whole thing.
I am going to miss a few things about HCL. There are hundreds of not so nice things about the company. But my experience with the company has been rather positive. There have been moments when there was some element of tension. But there were also moments when I was felt happy, much better than i ever was.
Had some very nice and friendly guys around me. Just hope that bangalore treats me the same way.
