AAMIR KHAN!! BRAVO!!

At the now famous Ramnath Goenka Excellence Awards discussion (Transcript, Full unedited video) Aamir Khan did not say that he is leaving India. He calls his wife’s hypothetical statement/concern DISASTROUS.

The whole discussion is worth a watch primarily for its candour and for the fact that here is a thinking man who knows more about mass media than most of us and yet he choose to speak his mind. For that reason alone my esteem for him goes up. There are many interesting points but two made a special impression on me:

1. Regarding his endorsement of the Award Wapsi:
“. . . I would actually endorse any protest which is non-violent . . . individuals have a right to protest and they can protest in any manner that they feel is right as long as they are not phsically harming people or taking law into their hands . . .”

2. About the two factors affecting the sense of security in a society:
“. . . One is sense of justice. If there is a wrong step that anyone takes, then a correct justice is what is required. Common man should feel that justice will be done. That’s what gives a sense of security . . .

“. . . When people take law in to their hands and when there is a sense of insecurity, we look upon these people (He meant leaders) to take a strong stance, make strong statements and speed up the legal process to prosecute cases. When we see it happening there is a sense of security but when we don’t see that happening there is a sense of insecurity. . .”

Even if you don't agree with his view go ahead and give his talk a view.
